Sikh priest Sajan Singh sentenced to home detention for child molestation

A Sikh priest has been sentenced to seven months home detention for molesting children inside a temple.

One of Sajan Singh’s victims, now 13, said her life had been “ruined” socially, psychologically, and academically by his actions.

In a victim impact statement read aloud at the Auckland District Court on Friday, she said: “It is difficult for me to trust anyone, my mind is always trying to figure out their intentions.”

Singh, 33, lured his two victims – girls then aged 7 and 12 – into unoccupied rooms within the gurdwara in West Auckland and groped their bottoms on several separate occasions.
