NZCCSS chief executive Trevor McGlinchey told ONE News that for many families, a normal part of their week is going to the food bank to see what they can get.

“The degree of needs and the complexity of needs in the families our organisations work with have actually got deeper and more entrenched over those six years,” he said.

Donated fresh produce is delivered to families in need almost as fast as it arrives at the community centre run by the MPHS Community Trust in West Auckland.

“People are doing the best with the money they’ve got, and it’s still not enough,” said Rochana Sheward of the community trus
