Focus on emerging sexual violence service gaps

Through Budget 2019, MSD received funding to enable providers to increase the level of service provision of several funded sexual violence services. We are now looking to build on progress made through this investment and have begun to focus on emerging gaps in the funded sexual violence services system.

One such gap, is the support provided to sexual violence victims, survivors, their family and whānau past the point of a crisis event. While we are aware there are a few known ways sexual violence victims/survivors can access support services post a crisis event, we have heard from previous conversations with the sector that there are still gaps in this support.

As a first step in this work, we are wanting to engage with the sexual violence sector in May to understand the current service gap better, this will guide future discussions and engagement.

We will provide you with a further update when consultation is about to be underway, including how you can be involved.
