Students demand change from Wellington council on sexual violence

The survey creators, Ella Lamont and Sophia Harrison, presented the results to Wellington City Council on Thursday, provided possible solutions and demanded the city’s decision-makers take action on sexual violence in the capital.

Later in the meeting, councillor Tamatha Paul, who holds the city safety portfolio, passed a resolution for the creation of a report on city safety initiatives.

“We need to have a detailed kōrero around the council table about city safety and harm prevention initiatives before our 10 year budget comes back so that people can provide feedback before decisions on spending are made,” Paul said.
