Cross-dressing sexual assault arrest in Dunedin

Police have arrested a man who allegedly sexually assaulted another man while dressed as a woman.

The 30-year-old was due to appear in the Dunedin District Court on Friday morning.

He was charged with sexual violation, and assault with intent to commit sexual violation.

The victim was still recovering from the attack, which happened in Albany St, in central Dunedin, about 5.30am on June 26.

A large number of people were in the city at the time following the rugby test match between the All Blacks and Wales the night before.

Police said the alleged offender was dressed as a woman and carried a jacket and a handbag.
