“Sunny [Gillman-Harris’ nickname] sexually violated Lenny in that room. He held one hand on his throat and he placed the other hand on his penis,” Gibson said.
“It must be terrifying to be choked, strangulated and violated.”
Gibson said Gillman-Harris’ plan had been to have a sexual relationship with one or both of the teenagers.
His behaviour was “almost obsessive”, Gibson said.
After arriving at the motel having driven the boys around Auckland for hours beforehand and supplied them with alcohol, Gibson said, Gillman-Harris put some pornography on his laptop “and showed the boys”.
“He [Gillman-Harris] was trying to wear them down in an attempt to weaken their will.”
His client “was completely uninterested” and reacted by slamming the laptop shut, he said, which apparently enraged the older man.
