What is The People’s Project all about?
The People’s Project has been established because so many people in Hamilton are concerned about people who are living on the streets or sleeping rough. We need a community wide response. No single organisation alone has the ability to solve this challenging problem. People sleeping rough is a complex issue and it will take many of us working together to solve it.
Who is involved in the project?
Key organisations such as Hamilton City Council, Wise Group, New Zealand Police, Ministry of Social Development, Housing New Zealand, Department of Corrections, Waikato District Health Board, Midlands Health, Hamilton Central Business Association and Te Puni Kōkiri have put up their hands and are willing to help end homelessness in Hamilton. We are confident more organisations will work with us. We know that it will take a city wide approach to provide the homes and services people need.
