A woman with post-traumatic stress disorder charged with stabbing her amputee partner has had a charge against her dropped.

A knife pierced the bowel of Talya Lough’s one-legged partner on July 18, 2014 and a jury will consider its verdicts in the case on Friday.

Lough is defending a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to the man she met while working as a support worker for disability support agency Healthcare New Zealand.

Her lawyer claims Lough the stabbing is not proven beyond reasonable doubt and says if jurors find it was, she did so in self-defence.
